‘In the Green’ with Multi-Million Pound Recycling Deal

Kiverco Recycling Systems (UK), a manufacturer of bespoke machinery for the waste industry, celebrated the latest milestone in the company’s growth, completing a state of the art multi-million pound recycling plant in England. The Dungannon-based company which employs over 50 people, has designed, manufactured and installed a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) for Birmingham based waste processor, Weir Waste.

The MRF will recover recyclable materials from commercial and industrial waste, diverting thousands of tonnes of waste from landfill each year. The plant will feed into the existing Trinity Street processing facility in Oldbury, bringing the capacity up to in excess of 25 tonnes of waste processed per hour – making it one of the largest Commercial and Industrial MRF in the UK and helping the West Midlands Area achieve waste management targets set by the EU.

The plant, which was contracted to Kiverco through waste and construction machinery supplier Blue Group, was delivered on schedule and within budget and marks a significant development milestone for Kiverco.

“The Trinity Street MRF is the first of its kind for Kiverco and demonstrates our ability to deliver a project on this scale and one which has exceeded our client’s expectations,” said John Lines, Sales Director for Kiverco. “Our expertise in design and manufacture, our ability to offer materials testing and to effectively partner with leading technology partners such as Titech and Hartner, have all been demonstrated through this contract.”

Based in Birmingham, waste management specialists Weir Waste Services are one of the largest independent waste companies operating in the West Midlands. Managing Director, Daniel Weir commented on the development, “We are incredibly excited that Trinity Street MRF will be bringing new and innovative recycling machinery from UK companies such as Kiverco to help us and our customers in our commitments to the environment and sustainability.”

The project was part funded by ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and managed by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Plan).
