Dedicated Email Set Up by Environment Agency for ESA Members to Report Waste Crime

The Environment Agency has set up a dedicated process for ESA members to report waste crime.

ESA’s Head of Regulation, Sam Corp, said:

“ESA welcomes this initiative by the Environment Agency. Not only will it allow ESA’s members to quickly and easily report waste crime to the Agency, but it will also include a provision for obtaining feedback on the action has been taken to investigate.”

“Of course, ESA and its members regularly provide intelligence to the Environment Agency regarding suspected waste crime activity, but we hope this dedicated process and the associate feedback mechanism will encourage our members to provide even more information”.

“In the wake of the recent Waste Crime consultation and following two successive years of additional Treasury funding, we are urging Government and Regulators to maintain momentum in the fight against waste crime. This initiative is just one small step, but we hope it can help as part of a wider strategy to develop zero tolerance for waste crime”.

An Environment Agency spokesperson added:

“Waste crime undermines legitimate business. We are pleased to be working with the ESA and the legitimate waste industry to stop waste crime.

“If you have any concerns or information that can help us target our action, please report it.

Waste crime can also be reported to our 24/7 incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
