Odour Solution for Sewage Pump Sites

Fanquip technologies are being used to alleviate noxious odour problems at government and private pump sites in waste transfer applications.

Such sites can see megalitres of raw sewage flowing into it each day, operations and maintenance personnel normally find it near impossible to enter the premises due to a high degree of unpleasant odour hydrogen sulphide (HS2).

To counter the problem, Australian air movement specialist Fanquip positions a number of its hooded roof fans to channel expulsion of this non-toxic but unpleasant air through the roof.

Not only can hydrogen sulphide gas emissions ‘block off’ a pumping station, this substance can rot much of the steel work in a building over a length of time. Submergible mixers working continuously permeate the HS2 causing odour and eventual decay. By installing the fans a site can rapidly cure all the problems and stop the steel work from rusting any further.

Hooded roof fans are strategically placed at a significant distance from the major opening of a warehouse, workshop, storage depot, processing plant or other large complex so as to create an air flow drawn in through the main opening.

Made from fibreglass/alloy, Fanquip hooded roof fans are heavy duty and lightweight, have the ability to withstand the force of extreme weather conditions and the threat of erosion.

Motor speeds range from 720rpm to 1440rpm, with voltages either 1Ph 240V or 3Ph 415V.

They are supplied in any of six standard profile bases (corrugated iron, Trimdek, Super Six, Spandek, Double Rib & Span 4, and Longspan) retrofitting is therefore a straightforward procedure.

Using a profile base, installation costs and time are cut by as much as 60% and the unit can be installed by customers quite easily. No upstand is needed, while bird mesh protection is provided. Should a roof profile not match any of the six profiles, a curb base is then used to accommodate the situation
