Electric Hydrogen partners with Ingeteam for green hydrogen projects in Europe

Electric Hydrogen, a manufacturer of large-scale, cost-effective electrolysers, has chosen Ingeteam—an established power conversion systems specialist with European manufacturing capabilities—to support its green hydrogen projects. Ingeteam’s advanced power systems have already been successfully implemented at Electric Hydrogen’s plants in San Jose, California, and Devens, Massachusetts. The collaboration will now see Ingeteam supplying rectifier systems for integration into Electric Hydrogen’s 100-megawatt (MW) electrolyser plants in Europe.

With an expanding customer base across Europe, Electric Hydrogen is committed to collaborating with suppliers that align with the European Union’s decarbonisation, industrial competitiveness, and technological innovation objectives. This partnership combines the strengths of both European and American manufacturing, ensuring competitiveness in the rapidly growing clean hydrogen sector.

Raffi Garabedian, CEO and Co-founder of Electric Hydrogen, commented, “Ingeteam’s power conversion technology enables us to push the limits of performance and cost. This collaboration, which includes comprehensive interoperability testing, mitigates the risks associated with the critical interface between electrolysis and power systems in our 100MW plants, while leveraging Ingeteam’s expertise and scaled supply chain.”

Power conversion systems, which convert AC power to DC, are a significant cost component of green hydrogen plants, presenting opportunities for cost reduction. Through this partnership, both companies have optimised their system components to minimise integration risks in Electric Hydrogen’s 100MW plants. Thanks to this collaboration and other product innovations, Electric Hydrogen has reduced overall project costs by as much as 60% compared to industry standards.

Adolfo Rebollo, CEO of Ingeteam, said, “This collaboration with Electric Hydrogen allows us to apply over 50 years of expertise in power electronics to one of the most promising emerging industries. Our combined strengths will help global customers optimise costs and enhance energy independence. Our technology is purpose-built for industrial applications, and we are proud to support Electric Hydrogen’s efforts to reduce the cost of clean hydrogen for customers across Spain, Europe, and beyond.”
