Joint Exhibition for the Sustainable Waste, Resource and Environment Sector

Mar 21 2011

The organisers of the Recycling and Waste Management (RWM) exhibition and Futuresource have signed an agreement to combine the two exhibitions into one new event from 2011.

The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and the Environmental Services Association (ESA), the organisers of Futuresource, and Emap, the organisers of RWM, have been listening to market feedback and are responding to customer views that the UK recycling and waste management market needs one major exhibition. It is the view of all parties that by working in partnership and combining the two exhibitions, a truly outstanding event can be delivered that meets the needs of a rapidly growing sector and is able to compete internationally.

The first combined event will take place at the NEC on 13th-15th September 2011. Futuresource 2011 will not take place at ExCeL in June and exhibitors will be invited to transfer their space to the new combined event.

Going forward, CIWM will play an integral role in influencing the shape, content and direction of the event through the joint event advisory board. It will also have a high profile presence at the show and will make a significant contribution to the marketing and promotion in 2011 and beyond.

Commenting on the merger, CIWM Chief Executive Steve Lee said:
“As the industry’s professional body, CIWM’s aim has always been to deliver a premier event for our sector and we believe we have reached an arrangement that will satisfy the needs of our customers and CIWM members. We plan to be very involved in the future of the joint exhibition and look forward to working with Emap to deliver a world class event.”

Malcolm Gough, CEO of Emap Connect commented:
“We are delighted to be joining forces with CIWM, the leading body that represents the professional interests of the waste and resource management sector. We have felt for a long time that the best solution for everyone would be a single show that effectively combines our skills and resources. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming the entire industry to the NEC for what will be a fantastic 2011 event and working with the industry in the future to further develop the exhibition in line with market needs.”
