New biofilter disposal scheme saves Thames Water up to £50k
Dec 21 2009
Huge cost savings are available to biofilter users who renew their biofilters with Melcourt Biofiltration media in a scheme in which we will remove old media as well as supplying new – thus saving substantial landfill costs.
The idea was piloted in a recent project with Thames Water plc where Melcourt supplied over 4000m3 of Melcourt Biofil-coarse and took away over 2000 tonnes of spent media. John Eley, Operations Manager for Thames Water plc said, “This large order was supplied to specification and on time. We reckon that by taking away the old media, we have made a cost saving of abour £50,000. From an environmental point of view this has also saved a large volume of product going to landfill.”
Any Chalmers, Melcourt’s Sales & Marketing Director says, “We enjoy working with Thames Water plc and as a preferred supplier we are always looking for ways in which we can improve our overall service. We believe that our new service will be of tremendous environmental and financial benefit to our customers and will prevent huge quantities of material going to landfill.”
