Sustainable Solutions on Show from ACWA Emirates

ACWA Emirates LLC recently showcased the company’s many innovative, sustainable environmental solutions at the Saudi Water & Power Forum.
A subsidiary of UK-based ACWA Services, which is wholly-owned by the CCC Group, ACWA Emirates is a leading provider of process solutions for the air, water and wastewater sectors throughout the MENA region.
The company’s mission is to provide the latest, best, most cost-effective technologies and services, closely tailored to the challenging requirements of clients in this region.
ACWA Emirates not only designs, engineers and supplies water and wastewater treatment plants, but also undertakes installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance, and concessions including BOT and BOOT projects.
The company provides a comprehensive array of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment solutions including membrane bioreactors (MBRs), extended aeration activated sludge systems and sequencing batch reactors (SBRs).
ACWA is well known regionally for its desalination and water treatment solutions including its advanced seawater reverse osmosis systems. These are gaining increasing popularity in the Middle East as an energy-efficient solution as are the Company’s reverse osmosis systems and micro/ultrafiltration solutions.
Landmark MBR projects in the region include the wastewater treatment system for the King Abdullah University (KAUST), in Jeddah, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; the 76,000m3/day Al Ansab wastewater treatment plant in Oman; the 18,000m3/day Palm Jumeirah wastewater treatment plant, Dubai; and the 10,000m3/day wastewater treatment plant for Sheikh Maktoum Airport.
In the extended aeration wastewater treatment market, key Group projects include the As Samra wastewater treatment plant in Jordan and the Sharjah wastewater treatment plant in the UAE.
The company has also provided a major industrial effluent treatment system for the Al Marai dairy plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its highly prestigious reverse osmosis projects include the 64,000m3/day plant for the Palm Jumeirah development and a brackish water system for the Princess Noura University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is about to begin construction.
The company has also been awarded a contract to deliver an MBR treatment system for the Al Shumaisi area of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, between the cities of Makkah and Jeddah.
ACWA Emirates also has over 20 containerised MBR plants in the field, serving labour camps and temporary installations. New projects include the $1.8 million Shaybah RIC expansion project, a 750m3/day MBR wastewater treatment plant for ARAMCO.
