Centrifugal and Customised Pumps
Dec 20 2010
The double suction split case pumps manufactured by ANDRITZ (Germany) for water supply systems are operating successfully in pumping stations throughout the world, also in numerous water supply projects in China.
The ANDRITZ pumping stations make a substantial contribution towards guaranteeing the supply of drinking water to the megacity of Peking. Hui Nan Zhuang pumping station, located to the south-west of Peking, is equipped with eight horizontal double suction split case pumps. Two sets of three pumps plus one on standby deliver the water into a pipe that is 4 m in diameter. The pumps supplied by ANDRITZ convey a total of 60 m3 of water per second over a distance of approximately 60 km into the Chinese capital.
In addition, ANDRITZ was awarded the contract for Xijiang Intake pumping station in 2009, where twelve double suction pumps from ANDRITZ will provide the water supply to Guangzhou as from September 2010, also during the Asian Games in November 2010, and guarantee the increasing water supply needs of this constantly expanding metropolis in the future. Xiang Intake Pumping Station conveys around 45 m³ of water per second inland over a distance of approximately 40 km. There it is distributed by other pumping stations. The twelve ANDRITZ pumps (ten in operation and two as stand-by), type SFWP 40-1000, are designed for a flow rate of 14,600-18,400 m³/h at heads of 35-42 m and an efficiency of up to 91%.
