Green Energy Company has British Water Application Approved

May 13 2014

Mapal Green Energy (UK) announced today that its application for membership of the UK‘s leading trade body, British Water, has been accepted. British Water not only represents the interests of members to the government and regulators, but it is also an important facilitator for the presentation and marketing of new technologies in the industry via its networks of manufacturers, consultants and contractors.

Mapal has recently announced successful contracts to supply its innovative floating fine bubble aeration (FFBA) technology to Thames Water, United Utilities and Anglian Water. Mapal has successfully installed its FFBA system at 35 other sites worldwide, covering industries from farming to paper manufacturing.

Traditional mechanical surface aeration systems are often inefficient in terms of oxygen transfer rate and they use high volumes of energy. In addition, they are generally unreliable and have high ongoing maintenance costs. Subsurface fine bubble aeration is more efficient but costly and time consuming to deploy, as an empty reactor with flat concrete floor is required for installation.

Mapal’s floating fine bubble aeration approaches the challenge of waste water biological oxidation, both municipal and industrial, by marrying the strengths of surface aeration technology – easy to install and accessible for maintenance - with the efficiency of sub surface fine bubble aeration systems.

Zeev Fisher, CEO Mapal Green Energy said, “Our system has some key advantages for companies engaged in biological waste water purification. It can be easily retro fitted, it is robust and proven, but most importantly, it can bring significant savings in energy consumption costs. Trials with Anglian Water have demonstrated cost savings of 22% in comparison to the jet aeration system that was in use, whilst some of our other sites worldwide are delivering savings of up to 70% compared to the mechanical surface aeration systems that were originally installed.”

Mapal Green energy will be exhibiting at the Pulpaper show in Helsinki from June 3-5.
