Pumps Improve Transfer Operations for Global Manufacturer

Jul 15 2013

Proven performance, reduced maintenance costs and easy availability of spares has lead to two EZstrip progressing cavity transfer pumps from NOV Mono (UK) being installed by a global leader in the production of print, packaging and other associated materials. The pumps have been installed at a wastewater treatment plant in Lower Saxony, Germany which serves the manufacturing facility.

The previous pumps used for lime dosing duties at the plant had required considerable amounts of maintenance and created high repair costs. The lime slurry involved in this process is very aggressive and can affect the pumps badly, making this a very maintenance-intensive application. This made the maintain-in-place nature of Mono’s EZstrip pumps very attractive and prompted the customer to try one and monitor its performance carefully.

Mono’s EZstrip technology has revolutionised the design of progressing cavity pumps by allowing them to be maintained-in-place without the need to remove other equipment or associated pipework. This often allows a typical maintenance operation to be cut from a full day, to just 30 minutes, dramatically reducing the down-time and costs normally associated with this work.

The Mono pump transfers the lime dosing at 10-55 l/min and 3 bar pressure. It offers outstanding performance, quick access for maintenance and also low maintenance costs. The customer was sufficiently impressed with the Mono EZstrip transfer pump to then install a second unit some twelve months later. Once again, the reliability, performance and maintenance improvements have been excellent,

The customer has also taken advantage of Mono’s EZparts, which are a range of pre-assembled spares, with a variety of rotor and stator materials designed for today’s demanding and varying waste water applications. Backed by a 2-year warranty against defective materials and manufacture, the EZparts assemblies are designed to ensure that asset integrity and operating efficiency are maximised at all times.
