THM Removal System Helps Meet EPA Stage 2 DBPR

Jul 14 2011

The new THM Removal System from SolarBee (USA) combines the latest mixing and air-stripping technologies to effectively remove all four types of regulated trihalomethanes (THMs). The new system helps municipalities comply with the 80 µg/L locational running annual average limit specified in the USA EPA Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule.

“When potable water systems experience high levels of THMs, mixing alone will not ensure compliance with the EPA’s Stage 2 DBPR,” said Joel Bleth, president, SolarBee. “For these systems, SolarBee’s effective and economical air-stripping system works in conjunction with a SolarBee mixer to strip THMs from potable water storage tanks and clearwells.”

The SolarBee THM Removal System is modular and scalable to fit any tank size or THM concentration, and it installs with little or no infrastructure change. Tank draining is not required. NSF-approved materials are used throughout and include floating air diffusers that offer extended use with little or no maintenance. Shallow diffuser depth allows use of a low-energy turbine blower. Optional SCADA outputs are available, and SolarBee’s BeeKeeper maintenance and service plan is also available with the THM Removal System. SolarBee offers a rental plan that allows municipalities to try the system first and convert to a purchase later.
