Tsurumi pumps out waste water sediment at Hungarian milk farm

Pélpusztai Mezögazdasági Kft, a large milk farm in Hungary, used a Tsurumi GPN411 (GPN3-100) sand pump to remove sand and grit from its waste water tank.

The Pélpusztai Mezögazdasági milk farm, close to the city of Siófok, is home to 2,000 cows and produces a lot of sewage water, containing gritty sediment that needs removing in order to keep its equipment and tanks in good condition.

Tsurumi delivered a quick solution to the farm in July this year, and can provide the site with a long-term solution. 

Tsurumi’s Hungarian distributor, Verbis Kft, provided the customer with the GPN411 sand pump to replace another model the company was using. The farm’s existing pump was not an agitator pump so is incomparable to Tsurumi’s GPN. But it was unable to pump out the sediment from the water and because the sewage pit was already full of sand, the company relied on the Tsurumi agitator pump to do the job. Tsurumi’s agitator pumps are used in similar applications and conditions all around the world. There is a growing market for Tsurumi’s GPN and KRS series, providing an effective service to the global market.

The pump was installed directly in the sewage pit – lowered by chains attached to a machine. After preparation and installation on a very hot day with temperatures reaching 37^oC, it took only one day for the pump to clear out the water.

“We were very happy to find Tsurumi’s GPN411 pump because there was already a situation occurring with our pit being filled with sand – going into the sewage pit,” says Horváth István, Pélpikusztai’s maintenance manager. “We found the pump by searching for ‘sand pump’ on the internet and then watched many videos on Verbis’s webpage, so we knew this was the right pump for us.”

The Tsurumi GPN411, originally named the GPN3-100, is a heavy duty sand pump with a chromium iron casting impeller and suction plate, which increases the pump's life. The pump casing is designed to have a wide passing area, and is made out of thick grey iron casting material. The pump body is mainly constructed from cast iron and has a side discharge to reduce the abrasive medium touching the pump motor, which eases the maintenance work due to less wear and protects the expensive motor from damage through abrasion. Also the pump facilitates a four-pole motor that reduces wear on hydraulic parts. It handles up to 30mm solids, 11kW power output, four inch outlet, and is equipped with 20 meters of durable NSSHOÜ cable.

The GPN pump can be used in many different applications, including de-watering, quarries and mining, silt removal and sand transfer, civil construction and emergency pumping.  

The Pélpusztai Mezögazdasági farm engages in crop production, harvesting wheat, corn, sunflower and forage crops as well as rearing livestock and straw baling works.
