Nitrogen Removal System Showcased at 2013 WEF Residuals and Biosolids 2013 Conference

May 07 2013

World Water Works, Inc. (USA), a specialist designer and manufacturer of wastewater treatment solutions, have announced they will be showcasing their DEMON nitrogen removal system at the Water Environment Federation’s Residuals and Biosolids 2013 Conference, May 5-8, 2013, in Nashville, TN, Booth 518. The DEMON system is one of the company’s many innovative solutions for municipal and industrial clients.

The DEMON system provides reliable performance and numerous benefits over traditional nitrification-denitrification systems. World Water Works will be on hand at the booth to discuss how implementation of the DEMON system can play an important role in wastewater treatment energy self-sufficiency, reducing pending capital expenditure and ongoing operational costs, and optimising any wastewater facility’s footprint. Drop by the booth to discuss a free evaluation of whether the DEMON system can help your facility and take the first steps towards using WWW’s WaterEnergy technology to become energy neutral or even produce an energy surplus.

The DEMON system features ammonia oxidising bacteria (AOB), which convert half the ammonia to nitrite. A second anaerobic biological process uses Anammox bacteria to convert a combination of the nitrite and ammonia directly into nitrogen gas. This system reduces energy requirements by 60 percent compared to traditional nitrogen removal processes, eliminates the need for all chemicals (methanol /alkalinity), and produces 90 percent less sludge. The system also features a low carbon footprint – the anaerobic process actually consumes carbon dioxide – which contributed to the DEMON technology’s nomination for a prestigious World Energy Globe Award.

With more than eight years of full scale experience and more than thirty systems using the patented technology, the DEMON treatment system has been shown to be a very cost effective solution. World Water Works’ optimised process and extended service plan keeps the system robust and minimises the need for oversight and maintenance. In addition, World Water Works’ expertise in controls and communications ensures accurate control and data logging.
