As industries strive for greater sustainability and regulatory compliance, tracking fossil carbon in waste-to-energy (WtE) processes has never been more critical.

Understanding the balance between biogenic and fossil carbon is essential for accurate emissions reporting and optimizing resource recovery.

Join leading experts Dr Johann Fellner and Olivier Bobin in this insightful webinar, where they will share cutting-edge methods for fossil carbon tracking, including the balance method (ISO 18466:2016) and radiocarbon analysis.

Gain practical knowledge to ensure compliance while driving sustainability in WtE operations.

Key learnings

  • Mastering carbon tracking methods – learn about the balance method and radiocarbon analysis for precise fossil and biogenic carbon quantification in WtE processes
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance – understand how accurate carbon tracking supports emissions reporting and compliance with evolving sustainability regulations
  • Optimizing waste-to-energy efficiency – discover how carbon tracking enhances resource recovery, reduces environmental impact, and improves overall process performance.

Don’t miss this opportunity to gain expert insights and stay ahead in sustainable waste management!

Johann Fellner

Dr Johann Fellner is a Professor of Waste Management at TU Wien (Austria) and the CEO of the Vienna Institute for Resources and Waste (www.virwa.at). With over 20 years of experience in biogenic and fossil carbon tracking in Waste-to-Energy processes, he is the founder of the Balance Method (ISO 18466:2016). Over the past decade, he has applied this methodology to more than 40 Waste-to-Energy plants across various European and Asian countries.

Olivier Bobin
Olivier Bobin

Olivier Bobin graduated with a MSc (1996) in Chemistry and a PhD (2001) in Physics of Archaeomaterials from the University of Bordeaux, France. In 2005, he founded, with Richard Cheret, CIRAM laboratory. He is currently CEO and scientific director of CIRAM. CIRAM is a private laboratory focused on scientific analysis and dating of materials, and especially on radiocarbon dating. For many years, CIRAM distorted the Radiocarbon dating aim to analyze, test and quantify the biobased materials. The radiocarbon technique is the only option to obtain an objective, reliable and suitable quantification of the percentage of biogenic carbon, the fossil carbon and the biomass content of solid recovered fuels (SRFs), fumes, CO2 emissions and Waste-to-Energy processes.
