AECOM awarded major Kuwaiti air quality project
Nov 23 2011
AECOM, a provider of professional technical and management support services for government and commercial clients around the world, announces that it has been awarded a major air quality monitoring, carbon management, and regulatory development project in the Middle East.
AECOM will provide essential environmental, engineering and sustainability related services support to the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and the Kuwaiti Environmental Public Authority (K-EPA) in upgrading and establishing a new Regulatory Air Quality Compliance Management programme.
The project, which has a total value of US$15 million, is one of the largest air-quality consultancy contracts ever awarded to a single company anywhere in the world. The project will run for five years. The deliverables include the production of a comprehensive emissions inventory, atmospheric dispersion modeling, the development of an extensive real-time monitoring system and full regulatory development from strategy and structure to training programmes for personnel.
James Richer, Global Air Quality and Carbon Lead for AECOM, comments, “The outcomes of this project will set the standards for oil companies and governments throughout the Gulf region. The project goes further than just air-quality management and will also focus on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and carbon management. We will be integrating advanced IT and air-quality monitoring techniques to provide an exemplary way of managing emissions from one of the major oil producing countries of the world that will meet new global requirements in environmental management and sustainability.”
