Superior Fibres for High Temperature Gas Filtration
Jun 06 2011
Most industrial de-dusting processes such as filtration units for municipal waste incinerators, cement plants, coal fired boilers or metallurgical processes operate within a temperature range between 100 °C and 260 °C.
A major parameter for choosing the right material is the temperature resistance of the fibre. In an environment with high temperatures and aggressive chemicals, requiring lowest possible emission levels, Evonik Fibres (Austria) is able to offer the right product and cost effective solutions to meet these challenges.
The product - P84 is composed of aromatic backbone units only, a recommended material for high temperature applications. Despite the aromatic, halogen free structure it is classified as non flammable with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 38 %.
The unique multi-lobal cross section offers up to 90 % more surface area compared to conventional round fibres and is the key advantage of P84. This increased surface area results in the highest filtration efficiency of conventional fibres, even for sub micron particles.
Evonik Fibres is the only polyimide fibre producer worldwide and is a major player on the world market of high temperature filtration.
