Odour Monitoring to Over 14 Million Residents Across the U.S.
Mar 01 2013
Kruger Inc. (USA), a specialist water and wastewater technology company, has been implementing odour monitoring for U.S. municipalities since 2010. Since then, over 14 million residents have benefited from Kruger’s unique OdoWatch real-time odour monitoring system, made by Odotech of Montreal, Quebec.
Kruger’s OdoWatch by Odotech is the world’s first odour monitoring system that takes actual data from emission sources and combines it with real-time weather data to create odour plumes that operators can see to fine-tune plant equipment to reduce off-site odours. Municipalities that have been using OdoWatch over the last several years are located in Florida, Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, Washington, Arizona and California.
In addition to the benefits of being able to proactively manage odours from their facilities, municipal wastewater treatment plants have shown documented savings in operations and capital investment by using OdoWatch. Other benefits include: Prioritise odour control projects according to maximum odour reduction benefit; Know with precision the degree of each monitored process’ contribution to odours; Optimise plant operations and staff time by quickly diagnosing odour complaints; Extend the useful life of biofilter media; Integrate real-time data to ramp up/down odour control equipment, saving energy Use objective rather than subjective data to evaluate off-site odours; Distinguish between monitored sources and outside sources for off-site odours; and Avoid spending capital where it will provide less benefit.
