Partnership announced to Advance Market-Ready Large-Scale Green Hydrogen Production Technology

Flowserve Corporation, a leading provider of flow control products, and Hydrogen Optimised, a developer and manufacturer of large-scale green hydrogen production systems, have announced a partnership to advance market-ready large-scale green hydrogen production technology. The companies have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of innovative technologies and applications for hydrogen production.

Hydrogen Optimised's RuggedCellTM water electrolysers are designed to produce clean hydrogen at a low levelised cost, using renewable energy such as wind and solar power. These electrolysers have a high-power architecture that enables 50 MW+ single modules to serve major industrial applications such as steelmaking, ammonia production, and e-fuels. The MOU states that Flowserve will provide its SIHI Liquid Ring Compressor to Hydrogen Optimised for use with a RuggedCell™ system at its High-Power Demonstration Facility in Ontario. Additionally, Flowserve will provide engineering support to optimise the efficiency of the back end of hydrogen production.

Through this partnership, Hydrogen Optimised aims to accelerate the commercialization of its RuggedCell™ system, while Flowserve seeks to gain critical performance data on its products to meet the needs of future decarbonisation efforts. The partnership will also help Flowserve to review its technology and pave the way for future product innovation to better enable its customers to meet their decarbonisation goals.
