Grand Opening of New Pump Manufacturing Facility in Brazil

Flowserve Corporation (USA), provider of flow control products and services for the global infrastructure markets, have recently announced the launch of their pump manufacturing plant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Found in the Campo de Grande Industrial Area, the new facility enhances the company's presence, manufacturing capabilities and support of customers throughout Latin America.

The plant is located on a 44,000 square metre plot which allows ease for expansion to meet further needs. The plant has been built to manufacture a wide range of Flowserve pumps and offer a 6 megawatt test stand capacity and full parts service with training capabilities.

"We are proud of this new facility and believe it sends a positive message to the marketplace and our customers that Flowserve is committed to Brazil and the entire Latin America region," said Mark Blinn, president and CEO. "When fully operational, the plant will expand our ability to continue providing the outstanding, localised service that our customers demand."

The plant will require more than 350 employees once fully operational and will transfer from Flowserves existing Rio de Janeiro facility (opened in 1941) later this year.

"Localisation of our products and services is a key component of our Flowserve strategy," said Tom Pajonas, chief operating officer. "This plant demonstrates our continuing drive to serve our customers in the best way possible."

Flowserve senior executives as well as local government officials and Flowserve customers were on hand for the inauguration celebration which included the ceremonial ribbon-cutting and facility tours.

"We are excited to have been able to design this facility with the latest technological innovations for our manufacturing processes in mind," said Fabian Mamia, president, Latin America Operations. "Not only are we able to meet the needs of our customers today, but the facility helps position us for continued growth and future opportunities."
