International events underline the competence of Cologne`s environmental trade fairs

Around the world, the political and economic agenda is dominated by the theme of the "environment". At the same time, due to the meteoric increase in population, the demand for energy and for utilities of every sort is growing, and so is the necessity for alternatives. There are after all many environmental questions associated with the generation and use of energy. Climate protection, the conservation of resources, the cultivation of renewable raw materials and the sustainable management of drinking water and wastewater are therefore the existential challenges of the 21st century. With Entsorga-Enteco, the International Trade fair for Waste Management and Environmental Technology, and Carbon Expo, the Global Carbon Market Fair and Conference (emissions trading) in Cologne, as well as the international events Carbon Forum Asia, Carbon TradeEx America, Wind Power Asia, Clean Energy Expo China and Clean Energy Expo Asia, Koelnmesse now boasts seven high-profile environmental trade fairs around the world. "The successful events in Asia and America also underline the international competence of Cologne’s environmental trade fairs, Entsorga-Enteco und Carbon Expo", says Sabine Loos, head of the Technology & Environment division at Koelnmesse GmbH.

Entsorga-Enteco, which will take place from 27 to 30 October 2009, will also represent the successful conclusion of the year, with all seven events on the theme of the environment taking place in one calendar year. Once again, Entsorga-Enteco will offer trade visitors from around the world a superb range of products and services. After conceptual restructuring with a strong emphasis on environmental technology, which was implemented extremely successfully at the last event in October 2006, Entsorga-Enteco will bring together – for the second time – all sectors of the international waste management industry and environmental technology in the cathedral city. Entsorga-Enteco will reflect the entire market like no other event this year, with offerings under the headings "Waste Management & Recycling", "Incineration & Renewable Energies", "Water & Liquid Waste", Local Authority & Environmental Services", "Technology & Logistics", "Air Quality Control & Emissions Protection", "Health and Safety at Work & Noise Protection", as well as "Research & Organisation". Around 800 exhibitors from over 20 countries are expected in halls 6, 7 and 8, as well as on the Koelnmesse open-air site. Following on from 2006, when Entsorga-Enteco boasted an impressive international presence amounting to about 25 % among exhibitors and 30 % among visitors, this year’s event already promises an equally good outcome. Groups from the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Russia and Finland have already announced their intention to attend Entsorga-Enteco 2009.
