£1m East Midlands Investment Completed as Waste Management Company Celebrates RoSPA Award Success

A leading waste management company’s £1m investment has coincided with recognition in a national award.

Wastecycle, which processes over 500,000 tonnes of waste at its Leicester and Nottingham facilities every year, has invested in eight new vehicles, to enable it to meet increased demands for its services.

The company, which helps businesses reduce their waste and recycle more, has already taken delivery of four DAF vehicles, with a further two DAF and two Mercedes trucks arriving over the next four weeks.

The delivery of the new vehicles, which offer low emission levels, impressive fuel efficiency and state of the art safety features, such as a four-way camera system, cycle radar and emergency braking systems, coincides with Wastecycle’s recent achievements in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Awards. The resource management and recycling company, who’s mantra is to make ‘every day a safe day’, has received their eighth consecutive gold medal award along with achieving a silver level fleet award for their first year of submitting an entry.

When allocating the awards, which are in their 61st year, the judges looked for verifiable historical performance data and evidence of an effective and cohesive programme for managing fleet risk.

Wastecycle will collect its award in July at a presentation ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.

“We’ve enjoyed fantastic growth over the last year, with our Leicester site increasing its customer base at an incredible rate,” says Paul Clements, Commercial Director at Wastecycle. “The surge in demand for our services has contributed to this investment in new vehicles.

“We place huge importance on health and safety. That’s why we opted for the DAF and Mercedes vehicles as they boast some incredible safety features.

“It’s really pleasing that as well as seeing our business grow, we’re also receiving recognition for our commitment to health and safety. The RoSPA Fleet Safety Award coincides with the arrival of our new vehicles  which, along with ongoing driver training, will help us in our efforts to make every day a safe day.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.

“This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year”.
