Fine Screens for the Gold Coast Desalination Plant

Johnson Screens (Australia) Pty Ltd today announce that they have recently manufactured for supply to the Gold Coast Desalination Plant two, 3m diameter, stainless steel, Suboscreens®. The Suboscreens are semi-submerged; in-channel rotary drum screens constructed out of Vee Wire® and designed to remove marine debris from fouling the sand filter and Reverse Osmosis membranes.

Funded by the Queensland State Government and Gold Coast City Council at an estimated cost of $1.12 billion, construction on the Gold Coast
Desalination Project at Tugun is in full swing. The Desalination plant is expected to be completed by November 2008, once completed the Gold Coast Desalination Plant will be the first large scale water desalination plant on Australia`s eastern seaboard providing 125ML of fresh water to South East Queensland each day.
