Enhanced coriolis mass flowmeter
Nov 10 2009
KROHNE (Germany) has enhanced its OPTIMASS 1300 Coriolis mass flowmeter to measure with increased accuracy whilst dramatically reducing the influence of process conditions.
The OPTIMASS 1300 was designed to provide industry with a high-performance, general purpose flow measurement solution at an entry level price. The twin straight tube design features an optimized flow splitter, which translates into minimal pressure loss. This in turn gives the OPTIMASS 1300 the advantage over its competitors of being able to measure higher flow rates with the same sized meter, giving the user a valuable cost saving.
Since its launch in 2006, the OPTIMASS 1300 has exceeded sales expectations by some 50 per cent. In fact, the demand for the meter has been so great that KROHNE has had to expand its Wellingborough based manufacturing facility in order to cope with production volumes.
With the new building came the introduction of a new optimized line production process with even tighter manufacturing tolerances. As a result, the OPTIMASS 1300 now offers an improved accuracy of +/- 0.15 per cent of measured value and increased immunity to temperature or pressure changes.
“We have been delighted with the response we have seen in the market place to the OPTIMASS 1300” said Frank Grunert, KROHNE’s global product group manager for mass flow. “As an innovative and customer orientated business, we need to continually look for ways of setting ourselves apart from the competition whilst offering our customers ‘real’ benefits that have a direct impact on the day to day running of their plants and help to improve their bottom line. With the enhancements we have made to the OPTIMASS 1300 we have no doubt that we have accomplished this and can offer our customers a high-end meter at an affordable price.”
