UK’s Leading Water Treatment Specialist Unveils Expansion Plans

Oct 16 2015

Siltbuster Group, the UK’s leading water treatment specialist, has unveiled ambitious expansion plans to develop a new 10 acre Head Office complex in Monmouth and double its business.

Siltbuster has grown rapidly over the last 15 years, supplying temporary and permanent water treatment plants which are used in over 33 countries. Its technology is used in sectors such as food, drink and mining plus within the construction and water utility markets. The company has also developed material separation systems which are used by recycling companies and local authorities.

Within the construction sector Siltbuster is the UK’s leading authority on water treatment and silt pollution prevention, with its fleet of over 200 treatment systems routinely out on hire. Siltbuster has worked with the majority of the top 100 construction contractors and has helped tackle the dirty water produced by construction work on projects ranging from Birmingham New Street station, Crossrail and the Olympic Park through to the construction of Airbus’s new UK’s factory. Through Siltbuster Process Solutions, the company also provides water and effluent treatment solutions for industrial applications. Its systems are used by many of the large food manufactures including Heinz, Premier Foods, Bulmers, Heineken, Arla, Chivas Brothers, Nestle and First Milk. The company also regularly supplies both temporary and permanent water treatment solutions to virtually all of the UK’s water utility companies.  Most recently, Siltbuster’s expertise has been extended to the local authority waste and recycling industries with its innovative Gritbuster – Road Sweeper and Gully Waste Treatment & Recycling system. This washing, water treatment & dewatering system recovers glass particulates from glass laden Material Recycling Facility waste streams.

Siltbuster’s award-winning systems are all designed and manufactured from its site in Monmouth.  According to the company, the biggest bottleneck to further expansion for the business is a lack of space, as Dr Richard Coulton, Siltbuster CEO, explains:

“We have been located on our current site since 2004, when we originally thought we would have to sublet half of it out. Now we have 4 sites on the same industrial estate in Monmouth and are still constrained by space!”

The development is part of the Siltbuster’s 2020 vision for ongoing growth and expansion, both in the UK and internationally.  This includes engineering and selling more, innovative water treatment and materials recycling equipment worldwide, and in the process doubling its turnover and creating an additional 65 highly skilled technical jobs over the next five years.

The expansion project is being phased in two sections, with a temporary storage yard currently being constructed which will cater for immediate expansion, and the new offices and warehousing planned to be erected over the next 12 months, subject to planning permission.

Richard Coulton concludes: “Siltbuster looks forward to remaining in Monmouth and establishing the new development as a centre of excellence for water treatment technology throughout Europe and beyond!”
