New Managing Director for ACWA Services
Jan 18 2013
ACWA Services (UK) is delighted to announce that Gary Jackson, the Director and General Manager of ACWA Emirates, has been appointed as their new Managing Director succeeding Peter Ripley who has retired after more than 25 years at the helm of the successful business.
Mr Ripley, who has steered ACWA Services to its current position as a leading sustainable process solutions provider for the global air, water and wastewater sectors, will continue to provide input and support while retaining his position as a Director.
Mr Jackson who has been with the Company for some twenty years will remain based in Dubai and Peter Brewer, the current President of ACWA’s highly successful American operation, ‘ACWA Clear’ will take on the role of General Manager for the UK. David Clegg, ACWA’s current Executive Financial Director will deputise for Mr Brewer when he is in the USA.
The announcement comes at the end of one of the company’s most successful years to date, in which its US subsidiary ACWA Clear, its Middle East arm ACWA Emirates, and ACWA Services itself have enjoyed a remarkable range of major project successes.
These include being chosen to provide a hi-tech wastewater treatment system for the new Center Parcs at Woburn Forest; a successful membrane bioreactor (MBR) sewage treatment plant installation for a $9 billion gas megaproject at Habshan in the Middle East; and landmark projects in the US that include a large arsenic removal system.
Business in the UK industrial wastewater treatment sector is also growing strongly where recent major wins include provision of a biofilter effluent treatment system for cereal giant Kellogg’s and a de-alkalyser for Coca-Cola Enterprises to help support increased demand during the Olympics.
Mr Ripley said: “I am delighted that Gary is to become the new managing director – as the driving force behind the extraordinary success currently being enjoyed by ACWA Emirates, he has proved he has the skills and experience to take the company forward to what I predict will be even greater success in future.”
Mr Jackson added: “It is a great honour to take up the position of Managing Director at a time when the company is going from strength to strength in both old and new markets. It is also extremely good to know that Peter will still be with us, supporting our future successes as he has our past triumphs.”
“ACWA Services is a remarkable company, one that has moved from modest beginnings to its position now as a respected leader on the global stage, and I am looking forward with great anticipation to our future challenges and successes.’’
