GIDARA Energy and Black & Veatch Collaborate to convert more waste into syngas

Jul 24 2024

GIDARA Energy, a leader in converting waste into synthesis gas (syngas), has announced a new partnership with global energy solutions provider Black & Veatch. This collaboration aims to transform biomass and non-recyclable waste into renewable syngas, a crucial component for sustainable fuels and chemicals that can be repurposed into various products.

The partnership focuses on expanding the production of cleaner fuels while reducing global carbon emissions. It also seeks to enhance the sustainability of renewable energy asset development and operations, delivering low-carbon-intensive solutions.

Central to the project is GIDARA Energy’s patented High-Temperature Winkler (HTW®) gasification technology. This technology unlocks the energy potential of solid waste feedstock to create syngas, which can be used to produce essential fuels such as methanol, hydrogen, methane, and bio or circular chemicals.

Black & Veatch will contribute its extensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project delivery solutions, along with its deep expertise in renewable energy.

"I am confident that our proven HTW® technology, combined with Black & Veatch’s engineering excellence and extensive experience in energy solutions, will enable us to offer compelling techno-economic propositions to clients looking to repurpose waste into valuable molecules," said Dr. Norbert Kamp, CEO of GIDARA Energy.

"As the global energy landscape rapidly evolves and increasingly embraces alternative feedstocks, Black & Veatch remains dedicated to leveraging innovation for greater sustainability. In this case, we are turning waste into lower-carbon fuel," said Brady Hays, a senior vice president and executive managing director in Black & Veatch’s fuels and natural resources sector.
