Grundfos steps up to tackle the global climate crisis

Jun 27 2019

Intelligent solutions coupled with concrete actions are key in Grundfos’ efforts to effectively impact the global water- and climate challenges.

The global climate crisis is imminent. Societies across the world are facing issues connected to this, specifically on water and global warming. Mitigating this takes efforts from all parts of society, including public and private stakeholders.

“The water- and climate crisis is crucially important to solve. Our planet and future generations depend on it. As a company, which can have a real impact in handling this, we see it as our obligation to act,” says Mads Nipper, CEO of Grundfos.

In the Grundfos Strategy 2025, the company introduces an ambition to become climate positive. To reduce its carbon footprint by 50 % by 2025, compared to 2008 levels. Grundfos will also help their suppliers reduce their footprints. An ambition of cutting its own water consumption by 50 % by 2025 compared to 2008 levels is also part of the strategy.

“And this is only focusing on our own part of the world. We are expanding our scope, and apart from acting sustainably in-house, we will also ramp up our efforts in our surrounding communities,” says Mads Nipper.

Towards 2030, Grundfos will help provide water for 300 million people, who today do not have access to it, and through intelligent water management save 50 billion cubic metres of fresh water.

“All the while, we will continue pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency in pumps, making sure that every new pump installed will use less electricity than the one, it replaces. We will also develop and refine digital solutions, some of which, the world has never seen, that will enable us to reach our ambitions,” says Mads Nipper.

“We cannot do this alone. We must collaborate with suppliers, customers and partners to turn ambitions into reality. We will only achieve this together. And we must act now,” Mads Nipper concludes.
