Revolutionary UV Drinking Water System

Jun 13 2011

The TrojanUVTorrent™ (Germany) is equipped with TrojanUV Solo Lamp™ Technology. This technology combines the best features and advantages of traditional medium pressure and low pressure lamps. “This system will provide our customers with several benefits, including reduced operating costs, easy maintenance, advanced lamp sleeve cleaning, optimised disinfection performance and a reduced carbon footprint,” says Serafino Verace, Managing Director, Europe, Trojan Technologies.

The TrojanUVTorrent™ was recently selected by Metro Vancouver as the UV drinking water disinfection system for the Coquitlam UV Disinfection Project. The UV system will be sized to treat 1,200 million liters of water per day, and will be used to destroy potentially harmful water-borne microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

The 1,000 Watt Solo Lamp™ is the most powerful amalgam lamp in the industry, and is paired with the advanced, energy-efficient Solo Lamp Driver. This revolutionary lamp technology offers the high electrical efficiency of a low-pressure system, while simultaneously providing the low lamp count traditionally found only with medium-pressure systems.

By using fewer and more efficient lamps, the carbon footprint associated with disinfection is reduced to less than 1/3 that of medium pressure lamp systems. The increased efficiency of the Solo Lamp translates into a significant reduction in energy, peak electrical loads, and associated electrical infrastructure. Trojan developed this lamp technology over the past six years, working with the industry’s leading lamp and lamp driver experts. Extensive laboratory and field testing validated the robustness of the components.
