Virotec wins at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards
Aug 01 2011
Having operated on the Gold Coast for over 10 years, Virotec Global Solutions (Australia) has taken out the Environmental Management award at the Gold Coast Business Exclellence Awards today.
Recognised for their sustainable contribution to the environment, impressive client list and tangible results, Virotec General Manager Daniel Blair credits the success to the ingenuity of the company’s technologies, which have been implemented worldwide.
“With clients in the USA, Fiji, UK and South Korea, as well as across Australia, being recognised locally for our achievements truly makes the hard work pay off” expressed Blair.
The timely win coincides with a recent growth phase at the company, including the recruitment of newstaff, and the completion of major projects in Burnie with the clean up of a mercury contaminated site in Tasmania and the remediation of a contaminatedsoil at a disused manufacturing site in South Australia which ensured the treated site met regulations for resale.
Virotec is one of only a handful of Australian companies who have had success in the remediation of mercury contaminated soil.
“Virotec’s ViroSoil™ Technology is second to none when it comes to the remediation of mercury contaminated soils and sludge and as a solution to heavy metal contamination” added Blair.
Other recent projects for Virotec include the treatment of benzoapyrene contaminated soil in Victoria, allowing the site to be redeveloped. A successful field trial for the bioremediation of hydrocarbon contaminated sludge has led Virotec to secure a contract in the Philippinesregion.
Winning the monthly category puts the company in the running for the top gong at the annual award prestigious event at the end of the year.
