Environmental Management Award Scooped for the Second Time
Jun 02 2012
On the back of the company’s largest project to-date, Virotec Global Solutions (Australia) has scooped the Environmental Management award at today’s Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards presentation.
With the team focused on the cornerstone project in Tasmania, cleaning up contaminated TAS Paper sites, the award comes as a timely reminder of a job well done.
Virotec’s CEO, Dr Lee Fergusson, reminisces about the year passed since winning the same award in 2011 saying “In the past 12 months we’ve launched a new mining division Virotec Mining Services, embarked on three major projects and formed strategic alliances with South African company EnviroServ and Tasmanian environmental company Green Shadows Commercial”.
The company shows no signs of slowing down in the second half of 2012, with the company expecting to begin large-scale projects in Queensland to treat and clean up dieldrin (a chlorinated hydrocarbon, used as an alternative to DDT) at one site, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons at another site, and lead at a third site.
“It’s always rewarding to have achievements recognised at a local level, and we’re thrilled to have collected the award today,” added Dr Fergusson.
Virotec has operated on the Gold Coast at Coomera Waters for the past 12 years and employees 10 locals.
Winning the monthly category puts the company in the running for the top gong at the prestigious annual awards event at the end of the year.
