Further Expansion to Meet Demand for the Lifecycle of Electronics
Mar 22 2011
2010 saw the merger of S2S Electronics and Bruce RID Recycling, and both companies worked under different names. 2011 has seen an exciting development of re-branding the companies under the S2S umbrella to ensure their customers and clients get a clear message of the services on offer within the group. The four divisions are now S2S Electronics, S2S Lifecycle Services, S2S Data Destruction and S2S Solutions.
S2S Lifecycle Services (incorporating and formerly known as Bruce RID Recycling), and S2S Solutions have taken advantage of the high security site based in Sheffield, which is also utilised by the S2S Data Destruction division, by providing ‘lifecycle services’ and diversifying into refurbishing and re-marketing sectors.
S2S Solutions provides a safe and secure solution for redundant, working and non-working corporate mobile phones and smart phones, which they say surpasses all of their mobile phone recycling competitors. Alanna Drysdale, Marketing Manager at the S2S Group said ‘‘Legal action’, ‘embarrassment’, ‘accident’ and ‘distrust’ are all too familiar words that have been used in many reports in the media of late, when referring to the data leakage of personnel details, client based information and corporate data. Mobile phones today provide just as much access to confidential data as hard drives, media tapes, and USB sticks, and therefore require the same high security and process measures. Whether choosing complete certified data destruction through granulation, degaussing or disk wiping with our Data Destruction division, or remarketing and refurbishment with our Lifecycle and Solutions divisions, our customers can be assured that all units will follow through management processes guaranteed to the highest levels of control to government approved standards, so as to prevent any reputation damaging data leakages.’
The re-use service offering by the S2S Group is not solely limited to mobile phones however, as redundant IT and telecommunications equipment can also be turned back into re-usable and saleable items of the same operational quality as they had been when they were manufactured. Therefore customers can add value to their redundant assets, while lowering their carbon footprint. Alanna Drysdale said ‘company directors especially IT Directors, are under greater pressure than ever to decrease the amount of expenditure on assets and to decrease their operating costs, whilst still supplying technologies that give them a competitive edge within the UK market. However many companies do not recognise the residual value that is in their redundant IT equipment, and do not have the time or the resources to assess their equipment. S2S Lifecycle Services and S2S Solutions can take the pressure off companies by evaluating their units for them, allowing them to make the most economical decision for their organisation.’
Customers therefore can still meet the stringent requirements of the WEEE Directive, with a variety of high security environmental solutions being on offer by the group, while possibly still generating a rewarding bonus. Companies can choose to donate any revenue credits generated to a charity of their choice or one of their preferred charities and the group will do this on their behalf.
As well as the obvious synergy between the aforementioned divisions, the group also operates a sub-contract manufacturing and design division, called S2S Electronics. Therefore, the group can offer a unique closed-loop solution to electronic and recycling requirements. Alanna Drysdale said ‘our ‘one stop shop’ solution is consistent and efficient throughout while operating a zero landfill policy, that allows our customers to achieve an optimum environmental solution for their electronic production and recycling’.
