Specialists in the recycling of plastics and plastic waste

May 17 2024

Specialists in plastic recycling and waste management, Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim unveiled their groundbreaking advancements at IFAT 2024 in Munich, Their collaborative efforts promise to revolutionise plastic recycling by enhancing efficiency and elevating product quality.

The amalgamation of Herbold Meckesheim, renowned for its expertise in mechanical plastic recycling, and Coperion, a leader in material handling and processing, yields compelling results. Together, they showcased a virtual PET recycling plant at the event, epitomising their comprehensive approach to plastic recycling solutions. This virtual facility not only illustrates the entire recycling process but also offers a detailed exploration of crucial components and their functionalities.

Visitors also witnessed the versatility of Herbold granulators through various rotor designs optimised for diverse applications. The unique rotor concept, coupled with precise cutting geometry, underscores the exceptional efficiency of Meckesheim's granulators.

Going beyond individual components, Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim now provide turnkey systems for plastic recycling, covering everything from mechanical processing to bulk material handling, extrusion, compounding, and pelletising. This integrated approach ensures seamless operation and maximises efficiency across the entire recycling process chain.

The collaboration between Coperion and Herbold Meckesheim extends to tailored solutions for various recycling methods, including post-industrial and post-consumer waste recycling, chemical recycling, solvent-based recycling, and deodorisation, tailored to the specific plastic types involved.

Key to the success of Herbold Meckesheim's granulators is their customised rotor geometry, meticulously designed to suit each application and input material. Employing a dual cross-cutting action, these granulators produce regrind with excellent flow characteristics, minimal fines, and high bulk density. At the exhibition, attendees can explore three distinct rotor types exemplifying Herbold Meckesheim's commitment to innovation and efficiency.
