Filter System Leads the Way to Improvements at OWRF
Veolia Water Technologies (USA) was awarded a contract by the City of Titusville, Florida to furnish a Hydrotech Discfilter system. This installation is an integral part of the Osprey Water Reclamation Facility’s (WRF) Headworks and Filter Improvements project. Veolia is providing the Osprey WRF two Hydrotech Discfilter units with PLC controls, designed to provide an average effluent Total Suspended Solids concentration of ≤ 5 mg/L, capable of filtering a peak flow of 4.125 MGD per Discfilter unit.
The Hydrotech Discfilter utilises many patented designs including the oscillating backwash spray header, which provides efficient media cleaning while reducing water consumption by 20 percent. Its innovative design and robust construction consistently produces high quality effluent despite high solids loadings and upset conditions. Its compact footprint, simplified control system and straight-forward installation process make the Hydrotech Discfilter a superior filtration technology.
The city of Titusville thoroughly evaluated a number of filtration systems for this project. Veolia’s proven experience and extensive installation base across the U.S., in conjunction with the low life cycle cost for the system, superior technology, successful on-site pilot study performance and competitive equipment pricing made the Hydrotech Discfilter system the ideal solution. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2014, and gives the Osprey WRF a cost-effective, state-of-the-art technology that will provide a first-rate filtration process well into the future.
