Cold Winter Spurs Further Growth
Jan 04 2013
With the next four months predicted to be the coldest in a hundred years, it is set to be a demanding time for Hydratech (UK), a specialist manufacturer of heat transfer fluids and antifreeze solutions for the refrigeration, AC and renewable energy sectors. In the RAC sector, Hydratech’s CoolFlow range of secondary refrigerants continue to be popular, with all versions having anti-freeze and corrosion control properties as well as being biodegradable and non-toxic. Similarly, the company’s heat transfer solutions for the renewables sector continue to be adopted by more and more blue chip companies including Sainsburys, Waitrose and Nestlé.
Established for some fourteen years, Hydratech has enjoyed excellent growth through constant development of its products and chemical expertise, with the group now achieving sales of over £3 million per annum. Based in Swansea at a purpose-built manufacturing facility, Hydratech invests heavily in R&D to constantly expand its product range and often formulates bespoke fluids to meet specific customer requirements. High manufacturing output ensures economy of scale and guarantees competitive pricing. Large stocks of finished product are always available for same day despatch, whether the requirement is for one 25 litre drum or a 25,000 litre tanker. A recent company expansion has seen the addition of Evans Cooling Systems division, a strategic alliance with the US inventors of non-toxic ethylene glycol and waterless engine coolants. During 2012 the Evans UK division successfully launched Cool180º waterless coolants to the aero, vintage, classic and power-sports sectors, resulting in a 30% expansion of its production team.
Managing Director Steve Hickson is encouraged by the company’s continued development and increasing customer base, “Hydratech has been able to maintain steady growth at a time when many industrial sectors are being badly affected by the recession.” He continued, “We see this as a positive reaction to our innovative approach to the RAC and renewables market which is now benefiting from the increased efficiency of our DTX range of heat transfer fluids.”
Hydratech works closely with all the markets it serves and is actively involved in various associations such as the Institute of Refrigeration, the International Institute of Refrigeration, the Solar Trade and Ground Source Heat Pump associations. This keeps the company in tune and up to date with the latest in industry developments.
Intrinsic to the company’s success is a fully equipped laboratory with state-of-the-art testing equipment, which not only helps with the R&D programme but also provides unique data on heat transfer performance, toxicity, biodegradability and ice crystal formation. Technical backup is always on hand from a team of specialists with extensive engineering and chemical expertise.
