Eco Expo Asia 2020 to go virtual and join HKTDC’s Autumn Sourcing Week | Online

Joint organisers of Eco Expo Asia – Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organisers, The Environment Bureau of the HKSAR Government – have made the decision to migrate the fair onto an online platform hosted by HKTDC. Eco Expo Asia was due to take place at the AsiaWorld-Expo from 28 – 31 October but will now be a part of the HKTDC Autumn Sourcing Week | ONLINE (ASWO) held from 16 to 27 November 2020.

In view of the latest epidemic situation, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has tightened various disease prevention and control measures and extended entry restrictions for incoming visitors, while many countries and regions have also issued travel advisories and alerts. These mean that overseas exhibitors and buyers will have great difficulty joining the fair this October. With support from both joint organisers, co-organisers and industry representatives, the decision has been made to migrate Eco Expo Asia 2020 onto a digital platform, along with a number of other HKTDC fairs. The online platform will allow the environmental protection industry to continue to explore business opportunities, despite the challenging times.

Commenting on the decision, Ms Judy Cheung, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd said: “With the current travel restrictions in place in Hong Kong and across the globe, and given the international makeup of the fair’s exhibitor and visitor profile, we believe it is within the best interest of all participants to move Eco Expo Asia onto an online platform. We also believe Autumn Sourcing Week | ONLINE (ASWO) will assist global exhibitors and buyers overcome some of the challenges during these trying times. The business matching and virtual meeting features offered by ASWO will help boost business connections and allow international participants to join the fair more easily.”

“We are glad to still be able to offer the industry a platform where they can connect and network and we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to exhibitors, group pavilions, industry associations and buyers for their tremendous support for Eco Expo Asia. Lastly, we look forward to being able to meet with them again in-person, next year”, Ms Cheung concluded.
