AxFlow Appointed Exclusive Distributor
Apr 21 2011
AxFlow Limited (UK) has been appointed the exclusive Great Britain distributor for the European built range of WEMCO of recessed impeller Torque Flow pumps. The sales and distribution agreement commences as from 1st January 2011.
WEMCO is the market-leading brand of vortex impeller pumps used in wastewater treatment and applications where fluids contain high levels of solids and grit. The strength of these pumps lies in their ability to operate in conditions where ragging and fouling of the pump impeller is a common hazard.
“Being appointed the exclusive distributor in Great Britain for this European range of pumps is a significant development for AxFlow, and it gives us greater exposure within the water and wastewater treatment industries,” comments AxFlow managing director Tony Peters. “WEMCO recognised that with our nationwide teams of sales engineers and service centres in Huddersfield, Aberdeen, London and Newquay we would be able to provide the highest levels of support to which their extensive customer base has become accustomed.”
The Vortex pump technique developed by WEMCO is based on the principle of a whirlpool: a vortex is created by the rotating, recessed impeller, extended into the suction line, drawing the liquid / solids into the pump and then quickly through the discharge, whilst minimising the fluid / solids contact with the impeller and volute (Fig. 1). This simple design allows solids, whether soft or hard, to pass through the pump without choking the impeller and considerably reduces pump wear.
“The WEMCO heavy duty C Range of High Chrome Iron recessed impeller pumps (Fig.2), containing the unique cup-shaped or curved impeller, impeller back plate and two-piece housing has a significant user base throughout Great Britain,” continues Tony Peters. “We shall also be seeking to increase demand for the WEMCO A, WP, S and F ranges of close-coupled, long-coupled and cantilever pumps.”
